Garmin Connect

Map of Nurburgring lapsIf you have a Garmin GPS of some description, there's a great online tool available called Garmin Connect, which allows you to share tracks via the web.

I've used it here to post the track recordings of my November trip to the Nurburgring. It's interesting to check out the changes of elevation and speeds at various parts of the circuit (although it was a learning day rather than going for any lap records!).

If you're running motorcycle rideouts, then it's a useful way to display some added information about the route like this trip to Portsmouth illustrates, but beware, your lunatic moments of speeding frenzy are there for all to see. It's perhaps worth mentioning that the GPS tracks like this may show higher speeds than actually achieved (officer) due to inaccuracies in location calculation. The 'player' view is the most fun. as it displays speed and altitude against a moving map pointer.
